I guess there's no Mandaue-hanon that I know who haven't eaten in Matias. What I've heard is that it's been serving good food for more than a decade now, and up to now, it's pack with people who loves barbecue. It's one of those few good diners who lasts for long and maintain it's reputation for serving good food. So I got no reason not to try it. I work in Mandaue and it's convenient with two of my bestfriends who lives in Mandaue to eat there. This happen, last month by the way, we ordered a couple of pork barbecue, pork belly, chicken thigh, chicken liver, chorizo ( i love chorizo). and ofcourse puso, I can't remember how many puso (heart rice) we've eaten. I could say their barbecue is find, it's no so bad, it's just barbecue anyway, should I have to taste a totally different barbecue? It's just as find with the barbecue I've tried in Larsian. The difference maybe is in Matias, you could be so sure their barbecue is fresh because it's what you see and its pretty obvious in their barbecue meat. What about their customer service? They have good customer service. I've eaten there again just last Friday. Although they are just so busy, and sometimes they could miss some of customers but they treat you well, maybe the waiters are not in good ratio with the customers they have. I guess they should add more waiters if that's the case, but overall when it comes to customer service they're good. What about the place itself? I've eaten their twice and during the first and second time, there's no table that's clean enough to eat, there's left overs from previous customers, and you still have to call their attention so they could clean it for you. Do you think its maybe understandable because they have so many customers? There could be a room for improvement with regards to cleanliness, I think they should add more waiters. They have a parking lot, but again because there's a lot of customers, its always full, you could have a hard time having a spot. Did I enjoy eating there? I guess so. Yeah I think so. It's a good place to eat with your group of friends or family if you want a not so formal set-up, open air food place, affordable food, a place you could enjoy eating one of the best barbecue in town. By the way, Matias is sort of a park, because they have trees all over the place and it's situated along the A.S Fortuna, but you shouldn't be worried with dust or smoke from cars because it's sorrounded with trees.

If you want much better bbq go to JunJun & Malou bbq at the capitol site now. It used to be next to Matias and was the first bbq place in Mandaue City, since 1982. The Capitol site has Karaoke also with a great sound system. It is so much more different then the taste of Matias and Larsian. After all it must be pretty good to stay in business for almost 30 years now.
