One of Cebus finest delicacies is the Pochero. Before I used to enjoy eating at Sammys, they served sumptuous pochero with unlimited soup. I dont know if they still exist. Pochero is a famous Filipino dish. It has many versions or types depending from one island to another. In the Tagalog region it is made of pork, tomatoe sauce, cabbage and potatoes. The sauce is really red and thick. In Negros particularly in Bacolod, it is quiet similar with the Tagalog but it has a lighter soup and does not contain tomato sauce. They usually use chicken when they cook it but often times with pork.
And now the Cebuano version of a Pochero, it is definitely unique. The meat is really soft and tender, they uses beef. Wow! It is really delicious!! I think they cook it in a good and slow manner because the meat is falling off from the bone which makes it easier to chew. It is usually served with marrow, corn that makes it sweet that blends well with the soup. It is very satisfying especially you just came from a drinking session. (,) And it is best served when the soup it's still hot and you can add chili on it. I am now craving for it, I might grab a bite later.
You may ask where I experienced eating this Cebuano Pochero? Well of course, at the famous Abuhan Dos Restaurant located at F. Ramos Street, Cebu City besides Robinsons Mall. Prices at Abuhan Dos Restaurant are really reasonable. They are open 24 hours and I think they have also a branch at IT Park, Lahug, called Abuhan Tres.
I am looking forward of my next drinking session with my friends, surely afterwards our next stop is Abuhan Restaurant. Oppsss!!! Just a warning, Pochero is loaded with high cholesterol it might not be good for your health.
