The best way to end the summer is the same way we started it. Head to the beach! That was exactly what my family did last weekend. After careful deliberation on plentiful options, we decided to drive to Alcoy town and landed at Tingko Beach, barely 92 kms south east of Cebu. We took off a little past 9AM from the city and got there just before lunch time. The place was filled-up with beach fanatics, adult and kids alike. Its shores are made of white sugar-fine sand, complimented with crystal clear waters on a high tide. It was just the perfect place to spend the last days of summer.
But before we proceed to spoil ourselves in this so-called paradise, it was time to fill-up those near-empty bellies. We had prepared spaghetti bolognese, chicken adobo, spring rolls, lechon and the dugo-dugo that comes free courtesy of ROYs LECHON. WOW!!! And I really mean WOW! The lechon just tasted so good! Surprisingly after that long road trip, the skin was still crispy. The meat was lean and incredibly tender that even a flimsy plastic fork could tear it off its bone without breaking. The flavor was superb yet uncommon, a unique blend of leeks, bay leaves, peppercorn, star anise, salt and extra spices that is MSG free! I should say the dugo-dugo was equally delicious. It had the right consistency, sourness and hotness that revs-up ones appetite.
No wonder the lechon tasted this good. The people behind Roys Lechon have been in the business for more than 30 years now. From the family that made Cangs Lechon,Roy Cang created his own brand using the same old family recipe that customers enjoy through these years. This mark of excellence has brought Cebu lechon to a higher level.
Roys Lechon is located at Sanson Road in Lahug (beside Petron in front of JY Square). You can check out their Facebook page (search for Roys Lechon). They offer free delivery to some areas within Cebu City and accept orders for domestic destinations like Manila, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, etc. Take my word for it. Definitely A MUST TRY!
