Yes I'm back! After a long hiatus from food blogging due to business (Thank you for those who supported the IT Summer Bazaar and the SRP Cebu Festival!) I'm back to give you guys my few cents worth of comment about the best (and the not so best) restaurants here in Cebu!

To start my rise from the ashes (what a description!) I would like to give my take on MESA. We have read from a previous blog about Mesa and how bad the service was, but last night, having dinner at this extra ordinary restaurant gave me a new impression about this Filipino fusion inspired dining haven

One of our Godmothers in our wedding (who happens to also be my wife's aunt) came here to Cebu for her annual check up. Since she comes here once a year, we decided to take her to somewhere she hasn't tried before. We have tried dining at Mesa before, and the food was excellent, so we didn't mind dining there again.

We decided to order our favorite, fried tilapia with four sauces. The fish is fillet, and cut into cubes; The tilapia cubes are fried in a way that it's crispy on the outside, but soft and juicy in the inside. The four sauces includes honey patis, sweet bagoong, soy vinegar sauce and sweet chili. I really like the honey patis and sweet bagoong, maybe because I have a sweet tooth for sauces. The tilapia for me was well prepared and I think the sauces compliment to the fish itself.

We also ordered Giant Squid Stuffed with meat and vegetables. The giant squid was soft and tender and the stuffings went well with the seasoning of the squid. The dish was well cooked and I believe its the best stuffed squid I have ever tasted.

Other dishes that we ordered are Grilled Pork Belly which was a bit dry (I liked my belly saucy!) and Baby Squid in olive oil which was really good, but the serving was small for the price (280 for 12 pcs of baby squid!)

The service was not as bad as how it was described before by Doyzkie (maybe they have read the previous blog here and improved their service!) but waiter visibility can still be improved. I was happy about the service and over-all, i think it was a great imrovement from Doyzkie's previous experience.

For me, my experience last night at MESA gave me a whole new impression about the restaurant. The food is on the high end, but the taste is superb and excellent. In short, it deserves a YUMMY blog! I'm looking forward for my next dinner at MESA! Anyone want to give me a treat?
