This is the second night in a row that we had dinner outside.  Friends from different places in the country keep on coming in for the holy week.  This is ruining our diet for sure. :-)

Last night, we met up with two of my close friends from college, Michael and John, which were visiting Cebu for the first time.  We decided to bring them to the best Filipino Native restaurant here in Cebu, Cafe Laguna.

Cafe Laguna is one of the pillars of Native Filipino restaurants here in Cebu City.  Their first branch is located in Lahug (which serves now as their commissary)  and they expanded through the years by opening branches in SM Cebu and 2 outlets in Ayala Center Cebu.

Thou their price is kindda steep, I believe the quality compensates the cost.  Since this is not the first time that I have dined at Cafe Laguna, I decided to order their specialty.  We ordered Crispy Pata (p310.00), Chicharon Bulaklak (p165.00), Pancit Canton (p175.00) and their signature Fresh Lumpia (p85.00)

Their Crispy Pata is prepared well, not over-fried, and the pork meat is tender to the bite.  The Chicharon Bulaklak was really something extra-ordinary.  According to Michael, it's the best chicharon bulaklak he has ever tasted in his entire life.  The pancit canton properly seasoned this time (compare the last time we ate there which was over-MSG) and the fresh lumpia is still at its best.  The garlic sauce complements well with the soft lumpia wrapper and the filling (made of mince pork, ubod, and shrimps)

Im sure glad I brought my friends here.  Not only did we had a memorable night because it was a reunion of sorts, but the food that we had was really excellent.  I can definitely say Cafe Laguna belongs to the elite group.  A five-star quality indeed!
